1.- Definición

a) Verbo

Tiene varios significados:

I) Permitir, dejar

- "Let me think" = "Déjame pensar"

- "My father don't let me smoke". = "Mi padre no me permite fumar".

II) Suponer

- "Let Y equal 5..." = "Supongamos que Y es igual a 5..." / "Si Y es igual a 5..."

III) Alquilar

- "Flat to let" = "Piso / Departamento en alquiler".

 b) Sustantivo

I) Arrendamiento

- "I can't get a let for my house". = "No consigo arrendar mi casa".

II) Red (Tenis)

- "To play / serve a let". = "Jugar / Sacar red".

2.- Let us / Let's

Se utiliza para hacer sugerencias.

- Let's go! = ¡Vamos!

- Let's play! = ¡Juguemos!

- Let's not argue. = No discutamos.

Y demás. Se utiliza para sustituír el resto de una exposición. Generalmente aparece como "etc".

En el preciso instante de cometerse un delito.

Ejemplo:

- She returns home early to find her husband in flagrante delicto with a neighbor.

8.- Ipso Facto

Inmediatamente, por el hecho mismo.

Ejemplo:

- If he is right, then anyone who disagrees with him is ipso facto wrong.

9.- Mea Culpa

- Mi culpa, culpa mía.

Ejemplo:

- His mea culpa didn't satisfy his family.

10.- Per Se

Por sí mismo, por su naturaleza

Ejemplo:

11.- Pro Bono

Para el bien público o común.

Ejemplo:

Estado de cosas actual o de un momento dado.

Ejemplo:

Territorio desconocido o no explorado. Se utiliza también para otros temas y situaciones.
