PREPOSICIONES

Una de las partes gramaticales que más problemas da al alumno es LA PREPOSICIÓN.
Hay varios tipos de preposiciones. En este apartado nos ocupamos de las más comunes e intentaremos aclarar las dudas.

1.- PREPOSICIONES DE LUGAR

Las más comunes son :

IN = Dentro, en

        I'm IN the classroom.

ON = En, encima de

        The book is ON the table.

AT = En un lugar no cerrado del todo, en un ambiente

        He is AT home

ABOVE = Por encima de

        The plane flies ABOVE the clouds.

BELOW = Por debajo de

        My brother's flat is BELOW mine

OVER = Por sobre algo, Por encima de algo

       OVER the rainbow

BY = Por

       Stay BY my side

UNDER = Debajo

      My dog is UNDER the table

BESIDE = Al lado de

      My house is BESIDE the lake

BEHIND = Detrás

      Your suitcase is BEHIND the door

IN FRONT OF = Delante de

      The teacher is IN FRONT OF the class


2.- PREPOSICIONES DE TIEMPO

IN = Se usa para :

a) Partes del dia (IN the morning/afternoon/evening)

b) Siglos (IN the 19th century, etc)

c) Años (IN 1984, 1990, 2013, etc)

d) Meses (IN January/February/March/.... etc)

e) Estaciones del año ( IN Summer/Winter/Spring/Fall)


ON = Se usa en :

a) Dias de la semana (ON Monday/Wednesday/Sunday/... etc)

b) Fechas especiales (ON Christmas day/New Year's day/...etc)

c) Fechas en general ( ON the 1st of January/November 9/January 1, 2015/.. etc)


AT = Se utiliza en :

a) Hora (AT half past four/Three pm/.. etc)

b) Noche (AT night/midnight)

c) Fechas o periodos de celebración ( AT Easter/Christmas)

NOTA : No confundir

ON Christmas day = Se indica el DIA

AT Christmas = Sólo se indica la celebración o periodo.


3.- PREPOSICIONES DE MOVIMIENTO

TO/TOWARDS = Hacia algún lugar

      My friend comes TO/TOWARDS me.

ALONG = A lo largo de

     John drives ALONG the road

THROUGH = A través de

     I can see the people looking THROUGH the window.

ACROSS = Atravesar, cruzar

     Jack is going ACROSS the street.

UNDER = Bajo, debajo de

     The fish swims UNDER the sea

INTO = Entrar, ir hacia dentro de algo

     When I openned the door, Jane came INTO my house

OUT OF = Fuera de, ir fuera

     The cook came OUT OF the kitchen.
