GELATINA - JELLY

 

En esta ocasión, vamos a preparar el postre conocido como gelatina. Lo haremos siguiendo las instrucciones que aparecen en la parte posterior del sobre del producto.

1.- What you need

- Gelatin powder (150 grams)

- 1 Stir utensil

- Water (2 liters/litres)

- 1 Measuring cup

- 1 Pour utensil

- Molds

2.- Instructions

Disolve the entire mix in 4 cups (1 liter/litre) of hot boiled water, stir until it is completely dissolved.

Add 4 cups (1 liter/litre) of cold water and stir.

Pour in molds, refrigerate until firm.

COMMANDS

I.- Public Notices

Habitualmente encontramos los comandos u órdenes en lugares de acceso restringido. Podemos leer avisos como:

- No smoking.

- Do not walk on the grass.

- Children must be supervised at all times.

Dos cosas a tener en cuenta:

1.- No se suele utilizar el sujeto en la frase.

- No enter

2.- Se utilizan además el verbo modal "must" y el verbo "allow".

- Smoking is not allowed in this area.

- Children must be supervised.


II.- At School

En la escuela podemos oír a los maestros decir frases como:

- Stop talking!

- Be quiet!

- Stop talking, please!


III.- At Home

En casa los padres a veces mencionan estas frases:

- Don't touch this / that!

- Stop talking!

- Tidy your room!

- Do your homework!

- Wash your hands!

- You must wear a coat!


IV.- Polite Commands

Para dar órdenes de una manera cortés, se utilizan modal verbs.

- Will you bring the report this afternoon, please?

- I'd be grateful if you can bring me a coffe.

- I'd like you to come immediately, please.


V.- Instructions

En este caso se denominan imperativos. Por ejemplo, una receta.

- Break four eggs and mix them with sugar.

- Put the chicken in the oven.

Otros ejemplos:

- Fold the paper like so.

- Thread the needle with a piece of thread.

- Glue the borders onto this side.

MUFFINS - RECIPE

Al empezar un nuevo año, además de los buenos propósitos, muchas personas se atreven con nuevos retos y desafíos.

Por ello, nosotros iniciamos el año retando a nuestro público a cocinar.

Se trata de una sencilla receta para hacer Muffins (también conocidas como Magdalenas en España).

1.- Ingredients (12 muffins)

2 cups flour

1/4 cup sugar

3 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 cup milk

1/4 cup vegetable oil

1 egg

2.- Utensils

1 small bowl

1 medium bowl

1 spoon

1 toothpick

a 12 muffin pan

1 oven

3.- Preparation

Preheat oven to 425 degrees F.

In a medium bowl add...

2 cups flour

1/4 cup sugar

3 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

Whisk well together. Set aside.

In small bowl add...

1 cup milk

1/4 cup vegetable oil

1 egg

Whisk well together. 

With a spoon make a well in the middle of the dry mixture. Slowly add milk, oil and egg to flour mixture. Mix batter until moist. Do not over mix batter.

Grease 12 muffin pan. Fill each muffin pan 2/3 full of muffin batter.

Bake for 15-20 minutes. Check with a toothpick.

5.- Variations

If you want, you can add 2/3 cups of chocolate chips to dry ingredients, to make chocolate muffins.
