DON'T WORRY, BE HAPPY

I.- Historia

En 1988 sonaba por las emisoras una canción cuando menos curiosa. "Don't Worry, Be Happy" tenía la particularidad de no contar con instrumento alguno. Los sonidos o melodías eran creadas "A Capella" por Bobby McFerrin, un cantante de JAZZ nacido en Manhattan en 1950. Este tema llegó al primer lugar de los rankings incluyendo el de Billboard donde permaneció durante 2 semanas consecutivas.

- Trouble = Problema
- Lay = Apoyar
- Landlord = Casero, propietario del inmueble alquilado.
- Litigate = Litigar, enjuiciar
- Gal = Chica
- Frown = Fruncir el ceño.

IV.- Grammar

a) Present Simple Tense

- We have some trouble.
- The landlord say your rent is late.

NOTA.- Aquí debería ser "Says" por tratarse de la tercera persona del singular.

b) Simple Past Tense

- Somebody came and took your bed.
- I hope you learned it note for note.

c) Future (Will)

- I'll give you my phone number.

d) Ain't

Se trata de una contracción muy utilizada en canciones. En este caso es la combinación de "have" + "not". Entonces sería por ejemplo:

- Ain't got no cash = Haven't got no cash = No tienes dinero.

e) Modal Verbs

- You might want to sing it.
- He may have to litigate.

f) Hope, expect, wait

Los tres significan lo mismo en castellano. Pero, cada uno de ellos se utiliza de forma distinta en inglés.

- Hope = Esperar (Verbo); Esperanza (Sustantivo).

I hope you learned it note for note = Espero que lo hayan aprendido nota a nota.

- Expect = Esperar por un suceso (en algún caso por persona/s).

In your life expect some trouble = En tu vida espera algunos problemas.

- Wait = Esperar por algún medio de transporte o por alguna persona.
