DO, DOES, DID - TEST


En nuestra primera publicación del 2026, ponemos a prueba su conocimiento del uso de este importante verbo auxiliar.

Nota.- Puede solicitar las respuestas en los comentarios.


* El ejercicio consiste en convertir las frases afirmativas a frases negativas e interrogativas (Yes/No Question).

Ejemplo:

- They have eggs for breakfast. (Affirmative)

  They don't have eggs for breakfast (Negative)

  Do they have eggs for breakfast? (Yes/No Question)

1.- He needs a new coat.

2.- They have to work hard.

3.- She does the housework.

4.- She had a heart attack.

5.- John does his homework after dinner.

6.- The children have singing lessons every week.

7.- Mike did his best.

8.- They had a good time.

9.- You did it on purpose.

10.- She used to make her own clothes.

LA NEGACIÓN


En inglés, existen varias formas para expresar la negación o algo negativo. En el siguiente artículo, mencionamos algunas de ellas.

1.- Con Verbos Auxiliares y Verbos Modales

De manera informal o hablada, se contrae un verbo auxiliar o modal con "not". En casi todas excepto "am" y "will". En este último, la forma negativa es "won't"

- I am not feeling good.
- He doesn't have a job.
- They won't travel to Mexico next year.

En la forma imperativa se utiliza "do not", o "don't".

NOTA.- La acción de colocar ambas palabras por separado suele estar reservado para la forma escrita o para dar mayor intensidad a la frase.

- Do not open the door.
- You do not work here.


2.- Doble Negativo

No se debe colocar "no" y "not" en la misma frase.

- I don't have no money.
- I don't have money.

- This won't take no long.
- This won't take long.


3.- Any +

La palabra "any", así como también las palabras que lo contengan, sí pueden estar en la misma frase con "not" o con su forma contraída.

- There isn't any milk.
- I don't have anything.
- Mark's dog doesn't like anybody.


4.- Prefijos y Sufijos

a) Algunos de los prefijos más comunes son: mis, dis, im, il.

- This was a misunderstanding.
- I think that man was disrespectful.
- The waiter was impolite.
- What you're doing is illegal.

b) El sufijo más común es: less.

- This thing is useless.


5.- Adverbios

Algunos adverbios tienen un significado negativo.

- I hardly know him.
- She seldom goes out with her family.
- "Members only".
- James never goes to the Disco.
- That guy is a little known artist.

HAD BETTER



1.- Definición

Utilizamos "Had better" para referirnos a acciones que pensamos que alguien debería hacer o que desearíamos que se hicieran. Se traduciría como "sería mejor".


2.- Forma Afirmativa

- It's getting late. I had better leave now.

- He'd better get here now or he'll miss the plane.


3.- Forma Negativa

- You'd better not leave your bag unattended.

- I'd better not go out with my friends. My mom will go crazy!


4.- Forma Interrogativa

- Had I better speak to Mark before I send him this email? What do you think?

- Had he better leave a note before he goes on holidays?


5.- Recomendaciones

- Usamos "Had better" para aconsejar. Para otras situaciones tenemos expresiones como :

- Have to / Must = Obligaciones

- Would rather / Would prefer = Preferencias

- Recommend = Recomendaciones

FUTURE PERFECT SIMPLE



1.- Definition

Este tiempo verbal se utiliza para mencionar posibles eventos que empiezan en el pasado y culminan en el futuro.


2.- Form

Se forma de la siguiente manera:

a) Affirmative

SUBJECT + WILL / SHALL + HAVE + PAST PARTICIPLE

b) Negative

SUBJECT + WON'T / SHAN'T + HAVE + PAST PARTICIPLE

c) Interrogative

WILL / SHALL + SUBJECT + HAVE + PAST PARTICIPLE


3.- Examples

a) Affirmative

I will have worked.

b) Negative

He won't have worked.

c) Interrogative

Will they have worked?


4.- Notes

a) El verbo HAVE no cambia en ningún caso, es decir, es igual para todos los sujetos.

b) El pasado participio de los verbos irregulares se utiliza en los tiempos perfectos.

c) El verbo auxiliar en negativo WON'T / SHAN'T rara vez se utiliza en la forma interrogativa.
