2.- Lyrics

It was 9-29,
9-29 back street big city.
The sun was going down,
there was music all around
It felt so right.

It was one of those nights,
one of those nights when
you feel the world stop turnin',
you were standing there,
There was music in the air.
I should have been away,
but I knew I'd have to stay.

(Chorus)

Last train to London,
just headin' out,
Last train to London,
just leavin' town.
But I really want tonight
to last forever
I really wanna be with you,
Let the music play on down the line
tonight.

It was one of those nights,
one of those nights when
you feel the fire is burnin',
everybody was there,
everybody to share
It felt so right.

There you were on your own,
lookin' like you were
the only one around,
I had to be with you,
nothin' else that I could do,
I should have been away,
but I knew I'd have to stay.

* Repeat chorus

Underneath a starry sky,
time was still but hours
Must really have rushed by,
I didn't realize
But love was in your eyes,
I really should have gone,
but love went on and on...

THE PASSIVE

- Five million people watched this film. (Active)

- This film was watched by 5 million people. (Passive)

2.- Forma

a) Present Simple

Am, Is, Are + Verbo Principal

- It is made in China.

b) Present Continuous

Verbo To Be + being + Verbo Principal

- Smile, you are being recorded.

c) Past Simple

   Was, Were + Verbo Principal

- The book was written in English.

d) Past Continuous

Was, Were + being + Verbo Principal

- Was it being tested?

e) Present Perfect Simple

Have, Has + been + Verbo Principal

- Nobody has been hurt.

f) Past Perfect Simple

Had + been + Verbo Principal

- Had Mark been injured in the war?

g) Modal Simple

Can, Will, Might + be + Verbo Principal

- It can be delivered.

h) Modal Continuous

Could, May, Must + be being + Verbo Principal

- My car may be being repaired.

i) Modal Perfect Simple

Could, Must + have been + Verbo Principal

- This song must have been written when the artist lived here.

3.- Passives with agent

- Harry Potter was written by J. K. Rowling.

4.- Passives without agent

- My car is being repaired.

5.- Get

   Get + Verbo Principal

- John got promoted.

- Jane is getting her hair coloured.

6.- Recomendaciones

SUJETO + HAVE/HAS + PASADO PARTICIPIO DEL VERBO IRREGULAR / VERBOS REGULARES ACABADOS EN -ED + COMPLEMENTO

Ejemplo :

- I have lived here for a long time.

- France has been a republic for many years.

2.- VERBO AUXILIAR "HAVE"

I have

YOU have

HE/SHE/IT has

WE have

YOU have

THEY have

3.- VERBOS REGULARES E IRREGULARES

Work - Worked
Study - Studied
Stop - Stopped

Ejemplos:

- Be - Been

- Speak - Spoken

- Do - Done

- Write - Written

Ejemplo :

- Yo he vivido aquí durante mucho tiempo.

- Have you lived here for a long time?

- Has France been a republic for many years?

En cuanto a las negaciones, se coloca "not" o "n't" a "have / has".

Ejemplo :

- I have not/haven't lived here for a long time.

- France has not/hasn't been a republic for many years.

4.- SINCE, FOR

- I haven't seen Peter since last saturday

- I have waited for an hour exactly.

- The weather has been very warm for a week now.

Ejemplo:

- How long have you worked here? - I have worked here for five years. / Since 1990.

5.- ALREADY, YET, JUST, STILL

a) Already, Yet

Ejemplo:

- I have / I've already done my homework.

- The film hasn't started yet.

b) Just

Ejemplo:

- Peter has just arrived from work.

c) Still

Significa "aún" o "todavía". Suele estar ubicado antes del verbo auxiliar "have /has".

Ejemplo:

- I still haven't found my keys.

6.- HAVE EVER / NEVER

Ejemplo:

- Have you ever been to London?

- My dog has never been dangerous.

- That is the best idea you have ever had.

- Has your computer ever been repaired?

jueves, 25 de mayo de 2017

PAST PERFECT TENSE

1.- FORMULA

SUJETO + HAD + PASADO PARTICIPIO DEL VERBO IRREGULAR / VERBO REGULAR ACABADO EN -ED + COMPLEMENTO

Ejemplo:

- I had /I'd seen Elvis Presley when I was 20.

- Jack had finished his homework by 8 o'clock.

2.- HAD

- I had gone to Fred's party when I met July.

- David had drove through a red light when the police stopped him.

3.- VERBOS REGULARES E IRREGULARES

a) Verbos Regulares

Ejemplo:

- Work - Worked

- Like - Liked

b) Verbos Irregulares

Ejemplo:

- Go - Gone

- Cut - Cut

- Take - Taken

4.- USOS

Ejemplo:

a) Reported Clause

- Mike said he had had a day off work.

b) Situaciones cambiadas

- I had wanted to go to the beach, but it's raining!

c) Conditional Form

- If I had seen Pat, I would have invited him to dinner with us.

5.- QUESTIONS

- Had you seen Elvis when you were 20 years old?

- Had he had lunch at work?

6.- HAD HAD

- John told his wife, he had had lunch at work.

CONDITIONAL FORMS

If + Present Simple + Present Simple

- If you light a piece of paper, it burns.

- If you expose an ice-cream in the sun, it melts.

2.- First Conditional

If + Present Simple + Modal Verb with Future meaning

- If you eat too much, you'll have a stomachache.

(Si comes demasiado, tendrás dolor de estómago.)

- If I see her, I might ask her to come to the party.

     If + Past Simple + Should/Would/Might/Could

- If you decided to participate, you would have to register by the end of this week.

4.- Third Conditional

En este caso, ambas partes son imaginarias. Imaginamos un pasado y un posible resultado.

      If + Past Perfect + Would/Could/Should/Might + Present Perfect

- If I had left earlier, I would have arrived on time.

(Si hubiese/hubiera salido temprano, habría llegado a tiempo.)

- It would have been easier if you had studied for the exam.

If + Past Perfect + Subject + Would

- If we hadn't met Paul, we wouldn't be here now.

(Si no hubiésemos/hubiéramos conocido a Paul, no estaríamos aquí ahora.)

6.- Recomendaciones

a) Tener claros los tiempos verbales:

- Past Simple
- Present Perfect
- Past Perfect

PAST SIMPLE TENSE

Ejemplo :

a) MICHAEL played football yesterday.
   (Máikel pléid fútbol iésterdéi)

b) DIANA bought a new car.
    (Daiána bóot a niú ka(r))

3.- REGULAR VERBS

Dance - Danced

Love - Loved

Like - Liked

Ejemplo:

Study - studied

Un par de excepciones son:

Say - said

Pay - Paid

- Lose - Lost

"Lost" is a great Tv series.

Make - Made

This Tv was made in Japan.

- All of the bad feelings have disappeared

Y el PRESENT PERFECT CONTINUOUS TENSE

S + Have/Has + Been + Verb + _ing + C

 4.- VERBS

a) “CAN”

- I can see clearly now.

- I can to help you. (error)

- Would you to like a cup of tea? (error)

b) LOOK, SEE

- I see the ceiling everytime I wake up.

- Look at the board, please! = Mirar a la pizarra, por favor!

A menudo se utiliza con una preposición.

- She looked through the window. = Ella miró por la ventana.

c) MAKE (IDIOM)

La expresión:

“I think I can make it”

Significa:

“Creo que puedo lograrlo / sobrevivir”

d) GONNA

Gonna = Going to

Existen muchas palabras similares a ésta.

SEE = Ver.

- When I open my eyes, I can see my bedroom.

LOOK = Mirar.

Look at me, please

WATCH = Vigilar.

Watchman = Vigilante

También prestamos especial atención a dos verbos.

LOOK AROUND = Mirar alrededor, echar un vistazo.

Es un PHRASAL VERB.

Y a este otro verbo :

YOUR SONG - ELTON JOHN

También estuvo al lado de Dionne Warwick en "That's What Friends Are For". Entre sus obras más conocidas podemos destacar "Crocodile Rock", "Rocket Man", "Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word", "Nikita", "Candle In The Wind", "I Don't Wanna Go On With You Like That", "Daniel", "Sacrifice", etc.

SUJETO + HAVE/HAS + BEEN + VERBO PRAL. + -ING + COMPL.

Ejemplo :

John has been serving in the Navy, for 25 years.
yon jas bin sérvin in de neíbi for, tuentifáif íers

No debemos interpretar "'S" como "IS", sino como "HAS".

Have you been working last week?
jaf iú bin uérkin las uík

Forma Negativa.- Su forma es la siguiente:

I haven't (have+not) been working last week
